Duke Energy STARS Computing Corps Scholarship

This scholarship was established to support diversity in computing while encouraging students to engage in community service learning. Recipients of the scholarship will gain valuable experience through joining an extended student community, participating in elective courses, and engaging in community outreach projects. This experience will help students to develop cultural awareness, the ability to use computing and technology in service to society, and leadership and professional skills. Charlotte Region SIM Chapter Founders Endowed Scholarship

The scholarship was established to recognize and support students pursuing study within the College of Computing and Informatics. Dr. Craig R. Brown Graduate Fellowship

This fellowship was established by Dr. Craig R. Brown to support first-year graduate students at UNC Charlotte who intend to focus their research on topics that will impact societal issues. This is a $2,000 award plus in-state tuition or equivalent at the rate for the current academic year. The in-state tuition portion of this fellowship is renewable for a second year, providing the criteria continues to be met. Recipients will be known as Craig Brown Fellows. Dr. Craig R. Brown graduated with honors from UNC Charlotte in 1986 with a degree in Economics and a 3.98 GPA. A member of the UNC Charlotte men's soccer team, Craig was the program's first Academic All-American in the 1985-86 academic year and was also selected as an Adidas Scholar All-American that same year. He was the Athletic Department's Hugh McEniry Memorial Award winner for the highest annual GPA by a male student-athlete for three years (1984-1986). and was named the Sun Belt Conference Male Academic Athlete of the Year in 1986 and 1987. A standout competitor. he was selected twice as an All-Sun Belt Conference player in 1983 and 1984 and lettered four years (1982-1986). After UNC Charlotte, Craig enrolled at the University of Georgia where he earned his PhD in Finance in 1993. A lifelong athlete who balanced athletics and academics, Craig values the commitment of earning a graduate degree, and cites strong mentoring from his economic professors Rick Zuber and John Gandar for his academic success. He has a long history of supporting UNC Charlotte including Athletics, Economics, and the Belk College of Business among others. Dr. Marilyn Dotson Annual Scholarship

Dr. Richard Lejk Scholarship

The purpose of this fund is to support deserving College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) students in honor of Dr. Richard Lejk's service to the college as a founding member for more than 30 years. The criteria are based on Dr. Lejk's own willingness to help those students that worked hard and were not necessarily the ones with the highest GPAs. Faye Jacques Memorial Graduate Fellowship

This fellowship was established in memory of Faye Jacques who was a much loved colleague. Funding will be used to recognize, support and encourage high quality, continuing graduate students. Future of Computing Scholarship

The Future of Computing Scholarship was established to encourage and support students who are pursuing a degree in the College of Computing and Informatics, and who have a specific interest in developing a diverse and inclusive workforce in the field of computing. Hugh Edward (Buck) Gray Scholarship

Joanna R. Baker Memorial Graduate Fellowship

This fellowship was established in memory of Joanna R. Baker to recognize and continue her vision of interdisciplinary research and the application of information technology to problem solving in the public sector. Funding will be used to recognize and support graduate students who have a commitment to a career that will apply information technology, methods and procedures to problem solving in the public sector. Recipients may be enrolled in an interdisciplinary program, utilizing expertise of information technology in various industries such as health care, psychology, criminal justice, etc. Fellowship includes $3,000 stipend and $750 travel allowance for research presentation at a conference. This scholarship was made possible by the generous contribution of the Joanna R. This scholarship was established as a part of My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge which encourages communities to implement a coherent cradle-to-college-and-career strategy for improving the life outcomes of all young people to ensure that they can reach their full potential, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or the circumstances into which they are born.
