Hours & Availability
The College of Computing and Informatics maintains two computer labs, in Woodward 120 and Woodward 143, that are open to all declared CCI majors and any students taking a class offered by one of the CCI departments during the term. Room access is controlled by swiping your UNC Charlotte ID card. The computer labs are generally available during the active school terms, but during some time slots, one of the two rooms may be restricted for course lab, testing or orientation purposes. Notifications of availability are posted on the lab doors. The lab may be closed on any day that UNC Charlotte is officially closed, or for maintenance during the spring for fall break periods.
During the remote instruction/work time period the Cone 169 computer lab will be available to all CCI students. In addition, the Woodward 140 classroom/computer lab doors now allow for 24/7 card swipe access and can be used by CCI students when face-to-face classes and labs are not taking place.
If you are a CCI major, or student taking a class offered by CCI, and your card is not allowing you to gain access to any of the labs, please email email@example.com or visit the CCI Helpdesk in Woodward 313 to have this corrected.
Woodward 120 has a total of 32 workstations available 24x7 during the term. These Windows 10 workstations can print to the two printers in the front of the room. The 24x7 Woodward 143 has a total of twelve Apple iMacs with OSX and one printer. All three printers are black and white, and print on standard 8.5 by 11-inch paper, and the two Woodward 120 printers each have a single tray of legal sized paper.
Cone 169 computer lab has a total of 20 Windows 10 workstations. The Woodward 140 tiered classroom/computer lab has a total of 55 Windows 10 workstations. CCI students are able to log into the systems, but only students enrolled in the Spring 2020 forensics class are granted additional administrative permissions to complete lab assignments.
Lab Use Rules & Regulations
CCI majors and students taking a CCI offered course are granted swipe card access to the room and login permissions to the workstations, and may print in the two computer labs without any additional charge. Students are prohibited from printing items for personal use, so all items being sent to the printer must be related to your UNC Charlotte academic career. Printing is monitored using Papercut, and should not be abused. Students are asked to be considerate and responsible in printing.
Food and drink are not allowed in the lab.
