Professor of Practice
The Data Science Initiative at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (https://dsi.uncc.edu
) seeks candidates for full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Professor of Practice position. The appointment will be for three years, eligible for renewal. Candidates must hold PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a closely related discipline that emphasizes the theory and application of analytic techniques. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct research in their fields of expertise and participate in academic service and interdisciplinary activities. The position further entails a significant level of coordination of Data Science activities with external partners and business community. Other qualifications include:
• A minimum of twenty years of professional experience in their realm of assigned responsibility and substantial professional experience, typically at a managerial level,
• Distinguished achievement as a practicing professional in an analytics field;
• Demonstrated ability to direct activities in the field of analytics;
• Established reputation in the professional field;
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in unit, department, college and university affairs.

UNC Charlotte is North Carolina's urban research university. Located in the state's largest metropolitan area, it is the fastest growing university in the UNC System. UNC Charlotte has identified Data Science as the major emphasis area for education, research and industry collaboration. At this time, professional MS programs in Data Science enroll over 250 students. An interdisciplinary BS program in Data Science is currently under development.
